Word has been received from the Sudan Mission, Cameroon, West Africa, that Karen Ann Bustad, 34, died July 15, 1982, following an illness.

She had taught English in the mission school for two years as a World Brotherhood Exchange volunteer and was scheduled to return to Tacoma next month. Before her mission work she had been a children's librarian for Pierce County Public library in Tacoma for eight years.

Born in Colfax, WA she attended high school in Richland and Davis, CA. She attended Pacific Lutheran University for two years and graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in Religious Studies. She also earned a master's degree in Library Science from Rutgers University in 1972.

Funeral services took place at the Sudan Mission in Ngaoundere, Cameroon, on July 17, 1982. Memorial services were held in her home church, Christ Lutheran, Tacoma.

Survivors include her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Leo K. Bustad; brother, Dr. Leo B. Bustad ('64); and sister, Rebecca Lee Bustad.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Tacoma, for work in the Sudan Mission.
