Karen Cline Stamey - recent

Karen was born at Kadlec Hospital in Richland on January 2, 1949 to Glenna Jean Culverhouse-Cline and Roy Burton Cline and lived most of her life in the Richland area graduating with the Class of 1967 from Richland's Columbia High School.

She passed away at Kadlec Hospital on May 23, 2012 surrounded by her family and loved ones. Her family and friends will miss her generous heart, quick wit, loving spirit and singing.

Karen married Craig Stamey. They were blessed with a wonderful daughter, Camelot Carol Christine Stamey, while living in California. Karen got great joy from her daughter and grandchildren, Syerra and Dillan.

Karen was a member of Roza Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Benton City for 45 years serving as secretary of the local chapter for many years. She was a Nationally Certified Secretary for a number of years at the Hanford area in Richland before being laid off. She spent the last two years of her life in an Assisted Living home in Richland.

She loved to make Cross Stitch decorations for everyone each Christmas. Everyone loved her to make Grandma Culverhouse's pies for special events after grandma passed away because she did such a good job. She loved her collections of Three Monkeys (see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil) and her hummingbirds.

Karen had a beautiful voice and especially enjoyed singing gospel songs. She liked playing cards, dice and Mexican Trains with everybody and would always get this smile when she would go out or win, so we started calling it the "Karen Smirk".

Her many interests included watching her grandchildren play in various sports, attending church services at Wynwood where she currently lived, traveling and doing crafts. We know that she is enjoying her latest journey where she can sing with the other angels!

Karen is survived by her parents, Roy and Glenna Cline; sisters: Cathy Allessio Edmonson, Lori Flannery and Glenda Zylinski; brother, Tony Cantu; daughter, Camelot; grandchildren, Syerra and Dillan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and adopted family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Craig A. Stamey, on January 16, 1979; by her sister, Peggy Ann Cline-Slater-Greer ('69) on May 28, 1997; by her brother-in-law, Ross Douglas Greer (Peggy's husband), on September 8, 2007; her brother-in-law, Wayne Edmonson (Cathy's husband) on July 9, 2011; her grandparents: Glen Neil on May 14, 1963; Helen Yvonne Kissinger-Culverhouse on December 12, 1996; Ordie Allan on February 2, 1979; and Zola Lenore Garton-Cline on November 29, 1978; and by her uncle, Jerry Neil Culverhouse ('51), on January 1, 2003.

She was the most wonderful daughter, mother, sister and friend that anyone could ever ask for, always having a smile and kind word for everyone. She will be forever missed, but never forgotten. We all love her so very much!

Memorial services were held at 1PM on June 10, 2012 at Desert Rose Retirement Center at 510 - 14th Street in Benton City, followed by a Celebration of Life.
