Samuel Farrell "Sam" Dossett, 52, of West Richland died at his home on Saturday, April 6, 2002. He was born October 8, 1949 in Eugene, OR and had lived in the Tri-Cities since 1955.

Sam attended Christ the King School, Chief Jo Junior High School and graduated with the Class of 1967 from Richland's Columbia High School. He attended Columbia Basin College and graduated from Central Washington University with a Music Degree. He served his country honorably in the U. S. Army.

Sam was well known within the Pacific Northwest music circle as an outstanding saxophone player and vocalist. He performed with Calico, The Sound of 9, Wayne McGuffin Orchestra, Candle Flame and most recently with Old School. Sam received the Tri-City Musicians Association Best Pop Vocalist award in 1979 and 1980.

Baseball was a passion for Sam. He played second base for the Tri-City Phoenix, and they took third place in the Roy Hobbs Men's Senior World Series. Sam also coached Tri-Cities Little League where he enjoyed watching youngsters learn and grow.

At the age of 36, Sam began his studies in the martial arts. He eventually earned the rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwan Do.

Sam's work career spanned 30 years. As a young man he worked on local ranches doing what he believed taught him a good work ethic. His primary career was with various contractors at the Hanford Site. Sam's final job was with the Hanford Patrol as a Special Response Team Member.

Sam is survived by his wife, Lynn D. Dossett; daughter and son-in-law, Samantha Ann and Chris Jarvis; two grandchildren, Samuel and Christine; stepdaughter, Angela Aman; mother, Eileen R. Jackson; stepfather, Roger W. "Warren" Jackson; sisters, Linda Anne and husband, Merle; and Charlotte Dossett Hodel ('73) and husband, Chris; Aunt and Uncle, Mary and Bernie Factor; Aunt and Uncle, Charlotte ('51) and Daniel Holden; and Uncle and Aunt, Tom and Marilyn Plazo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Russell Dossett; and by his stepfather, Fred Hughes.

Sam will be deeply missed.

Rosary services were at 10AM on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at Einan's Funeral Home. A service of remembrance followed at 1PM at Einan's followed by interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
