William "Bill" Kaas was born in Richland on November 17, 1948 to George and Helen Pyle Kaas.
He attended Lewis and Clark Elementary School, Carmichael Junior High School and graduated with the Class of 1967 from Richland's Columbia High School.
Bill proudly served in the U. S. Air Force from 1968-1972 and then moved to Anchorage, Alaska.
He worked at the Anchorage Police Department from 1973-2009 where he was a Sergeant for many of those years. He had a profound devotion to the police profession and the brothers and sisters with whom he served.
Being a "daddy" was one of his proudest accomplishments, and he was an incredible father and husband.
He recently moved to St. George, Utah where he suffered numerous health issues and passed away on February 24, 2019. He will be missed for eternity.
A celebration of life was held June 22, 2019 in Wasilla, Alaska.

From Anchorage, Alaska Bill Kaas shares some thoughts for the 40-year Class Reunion in 2007:
"Bill has lived in Anchorage for 14 years. He came to the reunion in July and said Anchorage is 'too fricking far'.
Bill is proud of his family. He has four daughters and five grandchildren.
In Alaska, Bill works as an Anchorage Police Patrol Sergeant. For 33+ years Bill has been on the force.
Upon thinking about his greatest achievements, Bill says that his four beautiful daughters are number one, and his staying on the police patrol for so many years is number two.
Others would describe Bill as a 'Cop's Cop'".
