Janice Kirkpatrick- 9th Grade ~ Janice Kirkpatrick- Senior Picture

Janice Marie Kirkpatrick Dorchak of Kennewick passed away on March 16, 2019. Janice was born on December 18, 1947 in Seattle to Maurice and Marion Kirkpatrick. She moved to Kennewick with her parents and brother shortly thereafter.

She resided for most of her childhood in Richland where she attended Jefferson Elementary School, Chief Jo Junior High School and graduated with the Class of 1967 from Richland's Columbia High School.

Janice stayed in the area and raised two children while running her cleaning business. She moved to Kennewick shortly before retirement and lived there the past 20 years.

She enjoyed being around water and spent many childhood summers on the family boat at Priest Lake and walking the shores of Whidbey Island. Her children have many fond memories of vacationing with her and their grandparents on Whidbey Island.

Janice loved to read. You can find many mystery and romance novels throughout her home, stacks of magazines and a copy of the Tri-City Herald on her coffee table.

She was an excellent cook and enjoyed creating her own dishes, as well as, traditional ones taught to her by her mother and grandmother. Every Thanksgiving she made a special pumpkin pie that was once made by her mom and will continue to be made by her son and daughter.

Janice was one to speak her mind no matter if you wanted to hear it or not. Everyone who knew her will always have a fond memory of something that she said to them. Her children and grandchildren can picture her now, looking down on them while she’s sitting in the most comfortable recliner, watching the latest episode of Deadliest Catch, and her saying, “Mine are Better” as they attempt to replicate her beloved Christmas potatoes.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Walter Kirkpatrick ('64) of Kennewick; sister, Jean Kirkpatrick Stanek ('73) of Spokane; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Kenneth Raymond of Kennewick; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Wendi Dorchak of Kennewick; six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on April 6, 2019 at 1:30 at Sunset Gardens in Richland.
