JO ANN LOUISE MULLINEAUX BREMER ~ Class of 1967 Honorary
April 19, 1949 - October 18, 2020

Jo Ann Mullineaux

Jo Ann Louise Bremer, born Jo Ann Louise Mullineaux on April 19, 1949 in Pasco to Rodney Walter John "Rod" Mullineaux Sr and Mary Cecelia LeDoux Mullineaux (she was born the fifth child of six children in the family), died at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, CA on October 18, 2020. A longtime resident of Redding, Jo Ann leaves behind a life rich with memories with her loving family, friends and neighbors, all who mourn her loss deeply.

She attended Christ the King School and Richland's Columbia High School with the Class of 1967.

Jo Ann is survived by the love of her life and husband of 29 years, Jim Bremer. She leaves behind her beloved children: Elizabeth LeDoux (Steve), Joe Hicks (Sandy), Charles Hicks (Vannesa) and stepdaughter Crystal Bremer (Richard); her four grandchildren; and her best friend, Judy Becraft Simcoe (Marty). She was preceded in death by her parents and four of her five siblings.

Growing up, she loved horses and riding, tennis, played folk guitar and was active in her community. Artistic and a lover of laughter, Jo Ann was a woman of many talents from childhood until the time of her death. If you ever received one of her handmade gifts, you know her talent!

Jo Ann dedicated her professional life to supporting physicians and patients as a medical office manager. She loved her work and developed lasting relationships in her field. Before her early retirement, her most recent post was managing the Planned Parenthood in Redding. She volunteered at the Discovery Shop in support of the American Cancer Society.

An avid football fan, and a perennial 49’ers fan, everyone who knew Jo Ann knew football season was a time to celebrate and could find her watching games on TV, hosting viewing parties and travelling to games with Jim.

With common sense to spare, she was very intelligent, brave, funny, hardworking, loyal and kind. Family was everything to Jo Ann. She especially adored her four grandchildren and was so proud of their school accomplishments, artistic abilities and general cuteness. She was their biggest fan!

A master gardener, Jo Ann, along with Jim, created a quarter acre lush flower and vegetable garden at their home in Redding. They loved their garden so much, they got married in it…twice! Often hosting holiday events such as pumpkin patch and Christmas tree decorating for her grandchildren and the community, Jo Ann loved to share her garden with others. Roses were her favorite flower. It brought her great peace to sit in her rose garden with a cup of coffee and observe the hummingbirds (her favorite). Jo Ann loved animals and adopted many homeless pets over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. Ovarian cancer is a deadly disease that is often only caught in late stage. There are currently no effective early detection screenings for ovarian cancer despite a woman being diagnosed every 24 minutes in the United States. Please consider visiting the family’s tribute page to make a tax deductible donation in Jo Ann’s name to help save lives. The family thanks you.

This memorial website was created in memory of Jo Ann Bremer who was taken from us too soon by a very aggressive ovarian cancer.

This is a place where we can come and connect with photos and memories from her life. As we mourn her loss, hopefully we can find comfort here. Please leave a story, remembrance or photo to share with us, and if you are struggling with grief or pain that feels too difficult, please reach out for support. She would want that.

Jo Ann was a loving person who persevered through many challenges in life, some extreme, including losing her beloved daddy at age sixteen. Jo Ann worked so hard her whole life, sometimes three jobs at a time to support her family. Despite this, she did her level best to provide milestone childhood experiences for us kids. Her strength and grit cannot be denied; she was a warrior. Jo Ann was also soft and nurturing, smart as a whip and a devoted wife to Jim. Her loss will be forever felt.

In her memory, please consider making a tax deductible donation to fund ovarian cancer research so perhaps we can spare another family this pain. No donation is too small.

A private springtime celebration of life was held in Jo Ann’s rose garden.
