January 10, 1949 - June 9, 2021

Sid Samora

Sid Leo Samora, fisherman, hunter and collector, passed away on June 9, 2021 at the age of 72.

Sid was born to Sirio and Floriene (Archuleta) Samora on January 10, 1949 in Monte Vista, CO. He was the second oldest of 10 siblings.

His parents and older sister, Lilly-Ann who was born December 13, 1947 and passed away on February 28, 1949, preceded him in death.

Surviving siblings are: Karen Samora, Emma Samora-Perez (Ernest), Yvonne Louise Samora, Trish Samora Danioth, Gary Samora (Laurie), Melanie Cecilia Foster (Mike), Manuel Samora and William Samora.

Sid spent his younger years in Colorado until his family moved to Richland where he attended Carmichael Junior High School and graduated with the Class of 1967 from Richland's Columbia High School.

Sid attended the University of Washington and worked at SeaTac airport before moving to Port Orchard.

Years later he met his wife, Ronda (Canfield) Samora, and was married for 34 years. They remodeled a beautiful home together in Silverdale.

Sid is survived by his children: Mitch Van Epps (Kelly), Mindy Samora and Whitney Samora; and grandchildren: Jacob Van Epps, Kaelin Van Epps and Jesse Samora. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

As a former Business Agent at PSNS, Sid spent 32 years working and then retired happily to spend more time at home with his family.

He spent many days salmon fishing with family, reminding everyone to “keep the tip up!” with a fish on. He frequented the waters with his father, Sirio, and brothers-in-law: Denny Canfield and Mike Foster.

When he wasn’t on the water, he binged Wicked Tuna on TV at home, always planning for the next fishing trip. In his younger days, he was an avid hunter and taught his two black labs, Lady Rose and Oly, to not only retrieve birds back to him, but cold beers from the fridge as well.

A celebration of life will be held at Sid’s home at 9256 Morning Side Drive NW in Silverdale, WA on July 10, 2021 at 1:00 pm, where he will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, father and friend through shared stories and favorite memories.
