BOMBER MEMORIAL

SHERYL ANN WHITE MONNETTE ~ Class of 1967
March 5, 1949 - February 16, 2018

Sheryl Ann Monnette died peacefully at home in Wenatchee on February 16, 2018, at age 68, after battling cancer for several years. God's mercy as well as good medical care, enabled her to see her daughter get married and meet two more of her grandchildren after she became ill. She was able to remain quite active and considered her last few years to be some of the best of her life.

Sheryl was born Sheryl Ann White in Pendleton, OR on March 5, 1949 to Harold and Ollymae White. She and her older brother, Roger, were raised by her mother, with whom she was very close. They moved to Richland where Sheryl attended Chief Jo Junior High School, graduated with the class of 1967 from Richland's Columbia High School and attended Columbia Basin Community College. She graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor's degree in English and a teaching certificate. She taught for a time in Leavenworth, WA, before becoming the Leavenworth Community School Director. She then worked several years as a juvenile probation officer. She enjoyed each of her jobs and treasured the people she worked with, many of whom remained her lifelong friends.

Sheryl married Bill Monnette in 1982, and they settled in Wenatchee, WA. After her two children, Jess and Terese, were born, she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. She missed working outside the home but never doubted her decision to give first priority to parenting her kids.

Sheryl loved the Lord and studying God's word. She was active in Women's Bible Study Fellowship for many years, where she held leadership positions and encouraged other women to study the Bible for themselves. She was a member of King's Cross Church of Wenatchee, volunteered for Life Choices of Wenatchee, and desired foremost to be a godly woman. As a result, she experienced the joy and fulfillment promised by God and took her illness in stride, knowing it was God's perfect will for her life. Sheryl was a regular reader, having read most of G.K. Chesterton's works and those of her other favorite authors. She enjoyed traveling, camping, cross country skiing, quilting, needlework, and mostly beating anyone she could convince to play her at word games.

Sheryl is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Jess Monnette (Natali); daughter, Terese Fink (Aaron); and four grandchildren with whom she loved spending time. She was a wonderful and fun wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger ('62), who passed away on March 23, 1978.

We want to thank Dr. Thomas Tucker and the many other doctors, nurses, and staff of Confluence Health and CWH Hospice Services who cared well for Sheryl and helped give her more quality time to live.

A Memorial Service was held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1400 S. Miller St., Wenatchee, WA with a cake reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, Sheryl requested that donations be made either to BSF International or Life Choices of the Wenatchee Valley. Arrangements were assisted by Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee, WA.
